My name is Joe Herbert, and I am an employee advocate and personal-injury lawyer that is passionate about getting justice for injured victims of negligence and unlawful employment practices. Helping people who have been unfairly wronged is the driving force behind my decision to become a lawyer. I have been practicing law since 1997. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
Before I ever thought about becoming a lawyer, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy right out of high school. I fixed the radar and weapons systems for fighter jets that flew aboard aircraft carriers. The work was demanding and the details mattered. There was no room for error because people’s lives depended on my work. This is exactly how I treat my clients and their cases – the details matter and you matter!
If you like checking out real fighter jets, I recommend taking your family on a tour of the USS Midway in San Diego, where you can see these magnificent jets up close. It’s also next to an active Naval Air Station on Coronado Island, and you can see helicopters flying almost at eye level. Such a marvelous experience.
Following the Navy, I worked briefly for the Department of Defense, but decided to change course and become an attorney. I was quite nervous about quitting my job and changing careers. I hadn’t been unemployed since I was 14. I knew that the road to a law degree was a long one, but I left my job, moved to Los Angeles and attended UCLA, where I graduated with the distinction summa cum laude. After that, I went to law school at The University of Utah, which is an excellent school. I chose Utah because I was put on a waiting list at UCLA’s law school, and Utah offered a top-rated education at a very decent price, so off I went. Utah is a beautiful state, by the way. Following law school, I studied very hard and passed the California State Bar exam on my first attempt. Ta Da! I was now an attorney.
I have been practicing law since 1997 and in 2004 I struck out on my own. By working for myself, I get to practice law at the “retail level”. This means that I represent people just like you against large businesses, corporations and insurance companies. I don’t represent companies or insurers. Their lawyers are paid hourly rates and are usually in large law firms that love to bully and intimidate, but that doesn’t work on me. I am always up against a big law firm with many bright and capable lawyers, but that’s how I like it and that’s what I mean by retail law – me helping you. David vs. Goliath. The businesses I litigate against have lawyers lined up at the door to represent them, and those businesses don’t need any more help, but you do! So call me ASAP.
From the flight deck to the courtroom, my ambitions were realized. For many of you looking at this website, you’ve been hurt or perhaps fired. Have your ambitions been destroyed? Has someone stolen your dream?
Have you worked hard, and through someone else’s negligence or bad management your life has been forever changed and turned upside down? If so, call me.
This is a fantastic career because I have a direct effect on people’s lives when I help them. When I represent you, I am all in and I live and breathe your case. You’ll be able to call me anytime and know that I am there for you all the way. The best part about this for you? I get paid an attorney fee only if I win! Now, if you decide to stop poking around my website, at least scroll down and take a quick look at the kind of law I practice.
